Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart held the Spring Sale of ‘Ervie’ Herefords at Mains of Airies, Stranraer on behalf of John Douglas on Saturday 7th May 2011.

A Large turnout of Pedigree Hereford Breeders and Commercial Bull customers from throughout the UK and Ireland along with buyers from the Netherlands and Germany were in attendance. Demand for naturally developed bulls with strong proven genetics in particular line one breeding was outstanding.

Leading prices for bulls was £5800 for Ervie L1 Auchiever 91172G to the Campbell Partnership, Middlesborough next at £5500 was Ervie 851 Advance to Bainbridge Farms, Morpeth followed by £5200 for Ervie L1 Achiever 91161F to Glenbarr Farms, Argyll and £5000 for Ervie 882 advance to Ballylinny Livestock Lockerbie at £4000 Ervie L1 Achiever 91170L was sold to G McKie & Co, Wigtown also at £4000 was Ervie Class Act F1134 selling to Dutch Buyer Giel Hermans.

Pedigree Bulling Heifers to £2100 for Ervie Narcissi 91159 to Irish Buyer J Hewitt, Co Tyrone, £1900 was paid for Ervie Miss Advance F111 by DP & J Griffiths, Caernarfon, South Wales. At £1800 was Ervie Chance F1077 to Local Buyer B Holland, £1700 was given for Ervie Topsy 91179 by M Maxwell Castle Douglas.

12 Bulls to £5800 averaged £3958.00
11 Bulling Heifers to £2100 averaged £1600.00
