The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 57 prime cattle, 2 young bulls, 67 OTM cattle, 5,712 prime lambs and 4,395 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 11th December, 2008.

Overall the clean cattle lacked quality kinds and were dearer on the week. Limousin heifers from J & J & D Taylor, Englishtown sold to a top of 170.5p ; Belgian Blues to 166.5p from Messrs Hewitt, Cardewlees.

Limousin bullocks to 169.5p from Hallburn, others to 166.5p The Gill & Hallburn, 165.5p Cardewlees; Belgian Blues 168.5p Hallburn.

Young bulls to 163.5p for a Limousin from Southlambhill.

More OTM cattle were on offer with more buyers present with all classes dearer on the week.
