Another grand show of prime hoggs. A full ring of buyers saw hoggs the dearest trade of the season so far with the whole sale averaging 187.8p. The 1784 hoggs under 36kg averaged 186p and the 3372 over 36kg averaged 187.6p. The sale was topped at £112.50 for Texels from Messrs Jamieson, Woodhead and to 227p for Texels from LE Grice & Son, Newtown.

The firm also held a show and sale for Blackface hoggs kindly sponsored by Johnson Tractors, Carlisle.

The show was judged by R T Booth, Closenook, who awarded the championship to a pen of 20 from Messrs Coltman, Haystown/Glensek, Peebles and scaling 40kg realising £80.20 to the judge.
