The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 55 prime cattle, 2 young bulls, 32 over thirty month cattle, 7,465 prime lambs and 7,067 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 19th November, 2009.

Top price in the clean cattle was 177.5p for Limousin from Hallburn, followed at 175.5p & 167.5p Nirvana; Charolais 168.5p Sceughdyke & Hallburn. Limousin bullocks from Hallburn to 176.5p & 169.5p Ladyhousesteads.

The OTM were a smaller show and short of meat. Limousin heifers to 140.5p Whamtown; Angus 129.5p Burnfoot on Esk; Angus bullocks 126.5p Moorhills. Charolais cows 115.5p Sceughdyke; Shorthorn 115.5p Sewing Shields; Friesian 107.5p Becton Hall, 97.5p Halltown.

A massive show of lambs sold a full ring of buyers resulting in the best trade this week anywhere. The overall average was 164.5p/kg. The 6,033 lambs over 36kg averaged 163.7p and the 1426 under 36kg averaged 168.4p

Top price was in the heavy lambs reaching £129.50 for Texels from Roxburgh Mill and to 200p per kilo for Texels from Edges Green.
