Prime cattle saw trade slightly
easier on the week, following the national trend. Top price 183.5p
for Limousin heifers from Messrs Blaylock, Hallburn and purchased
by W Kirkup & Sons, Butchers, Longtown.

Export hoggs (36-42kg) and lightweight hoggs were easily sold and
short of buyers requirements. Hoggs 44kg – 49kg proved harder
to cash but 50kg plus hoggs were short of requirements. The overall
sale average was 183.9p with the SQQ (32-45kg) averaging 187.6p.
The sale topped at £108.50 for Texels from AR Bell, Kirkton
