The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 58 prime cattle, 9 young bulls, 36 over thirty month cattle, 5,675 prime hoggs and 6,565 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 22nd March 2012.

Prime cattle were a larger show and a lot of well fleshed cattle saw trade maintain recent high rates, topping at 220.5p for a Charolais heifer from J. & N. Blaylock & Son, Hallburn with Limousins to 219.5p from A. & W.J. Taylor & Son, Dashwell Green. Limousin bullocks peaked at 213.5p from J.C. & D. Nicholson & Son, The Gill, purchased by W. Kirkup & Sons, Butcher, Longtown.

A larger show of Over Thirty Month cattle saw trade once again sell at a fast rate. Top price of 180.5p for a Hereford from H. Johnston, Scotby Ghyll Farm.
