PRIMESTOCK REPORTS


The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 42 prime cattle, 9 young bulls, 27 over thirty month cattle, 3,717 prime lambs and 7,138 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 9th August 2012.

A smaller, plainer show of prime cattle saw trade a shade easier but still topped at 225.5p, 221.5p, 218.5p, 217.5p for Limousin bullocks all shown by A & W J Taylor & Son, Dashwellgreen. Limousin heifers sold to 215.5p from J & N Blaylock & Son, Hallburn and purchased by Mr J Little.

Prime lambs were a similar show of better quality, trade was marvellous throughout with an overall average of 200p being 18p up on the week. Numbers were short of requirements with extra buyers operating.
Top was 225p per kilo for Texels from Gallowberry.
