The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 35 prime cattle, 15 young bulls, 19 over thirty month cattle, 6,006 prime lambs and 7,476 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 7th November 2013.

An improved show of prime cattle forward with many more inside fed cattle shown, resulting in trade being slightly sharper. Top price of 253.5p for a Limousin bullock from Messrs Taylor, Dashwellgreen. Heifers to 244.5p from Messrs Garthwaite, Wyseby Hill Cottage.

A larger show of 7,476 cast ewes and rams were forward to an increased ring of buyers. More hill and lean ewes forward with best heavy ewes and rams selling to a greater trade on the week and are short of buyers requirements. Also feeding types ewes sold to an increased demand but mule ewes proving harder to cash unless very heavy.
