The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 2,172 store hoggs, in lambers and ewes with lambs at foot at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 15th March, 2011.

Store hoggs were very dear and short of requirements. Top of £95.50 and £91.50 for Beltex’s from Glebelands, £90.20 Compstone End; Texel £86.50 Haithwaite and High Stenries, £83.50 Bushfield; North Country Cheviot £82.50 North House; Suffolk £80.50 Tister, £78.50 South Mains; Hill Cheviot £79.50 Milnholm; Cheviot Mule £79.50 Embley; Greyface £71.80 Broadmeadows, £70 The Brigg and Tister; Blackface £70 Brigg, £63.50 Embley; Herdwick £57.50, £55.50, £54.50 Rowhead.

Tup hoggs to £122 for Beltex from South Mains. Cast rams to £99 South Mains. Cast ewes to £86.50 Macherquhat, hill ewes £68.50 Embley.

In lambers (406) still met a good enquiry with a top of £126 and £120 for Greyfaces from Blindhillbush; Hill Cheviot £74 Allfornaught.

Ewes with lambs were very easily sold and short of numbers. Top of £58 for Cheviot Mules with singles from Raby Grange, who also sold Cheviots at £47. Ewes with twins to £57 for Greyface from Raby Grange, who also sold Cheviot Mules at £55.50.
