STORE & BREEDING SHEEP REPORT


The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 8,001 Store Lambs (including 2,152 Cheviots & 2,280 Blackfaces) at their Weekly Sale at Longtown on Tuesday 20th September, 2011.

A large entry met a strong trade with recent high rates easily maintained.

Top was £76.50 for Texels from Hazelbank and £74 Lake House, £71 Stonehall. Suffolks £71.20 Lakehouse; Charollais £62.50 Winshields; Cheviot Mule £59 Embley; Greyfaces £65 Demense, £64.50 Satchells, £62 Stonehall; Beltex £60 Hazelbank; Zwartbles £47 Lakehouse; North Country Cheviots £60 Yetholm Mains, £59 Sorbietrees, £58 Satchells; Swaledales £40 Sinderhope Shields.

Correct ewes to £85 Lakehouse; feeding ewes £80.50 Lakehouse.

The Hill Cheviots were again easy to sell with the best dearer. Top was £60.50 from Clerkhill, £58 Clenries.

A record entry of Blackface lambs saw all classes dearer on the week. Top was £60 from Townshields, £53 Linhope, £51.50 Dalveen, £51 Glenlee Farms.
