Sale ringThe Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 2,092 breeding sheep at their weekly sale on Tuesday 5th June, 2012.

Another large entry attracted plenty of buyers from a wide area. Trade was again very strong for all breeds of sheep.

Hoggs with singles to £79 for Greyfaces from Maxton House, others £76 Raby Grange, £75 Station Road; Texel £75, £72 Wallend.

Hoggs with twins to £67.50 for Greyface from Maxton House, others £66 and £64 Stoneflatt; Texel £66, £65 Wallend.

Shearlings with singles to £66 for Greyface from Bayles; Suffolk cross £63 Maxton House; Texel £63 Maxton House, £61 Oak Gardens.

Shearlings with twins to £65 (3 times) from Aimshaugh, New Hummerbecks and Snowden Close; Texel £59 Maxton House; Charollais £55 Oak Gardens.

Ewes with singles to £69 and £63 for Texels from Grange Farm, £66 The Park; Greyface £64.50, £64 Maxton House; Suffolk cross £63 Maxton House; Hill Cheviots £59 Girnwood; Kendal Rough £49 Low Northsceugh; Blackface £45 Low Northsceugh, £43 Auchengruith; Herdwick £41 Bayles.
