The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 4,035 Store Hoggs and Feeding Ewes, also 622 In-lambers at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 5th March, 2013.

Sale ringStore hoggs were a massive show with the usual buyers. The best trade of the season was accomplished.

Top price of £80.50 for Texels from Greensburn, others £78.50 Linton House, £74.50 Greyside and Nether Brotherstone; Charollais £77.50, £67.50 Aikers; Beltex £74.50 Nether Brotherstone; Suffolk £70 Milnholm, £68.50 Dyke, £68 Outertown; Blackface £69.50 Haithwaite, £60.50 Greyside, £58.50 Kirkton Hill, £56.50 West Loch; Greyface £67.50 Balneil, £61.50 Kirkton Hill; North Country Cheviot £67.50 Chapel, £66 Broomhillbank; Roussin £66 Castlefairn; Hill Cheviot £62.80 Milnholm, £61.50 Carlenrigg; Swaledale £43.50 High Burnfoot; Shetland £34 Cottage Farm.

Cast ewes to £63 Airds of Balcary, cast rams £90 Aikers.

The 622 In-lambers were of better quality with plenty of buyers present, as a result all classes very easy to sell and short of requirements. Top of £110 for in-lamb Texel gimmers from Mid Dargarvel who also sold Greyface in-lamb ewes at £98; Roussin £90 Allfornaught; Hill Cheviot £70 Allfornaught. In lamb hoggs sold to £84 for Texels from Airds of Balcary; Greyface £80 Airds of Balcary and Waterloo Farm.
