STORE & BREEDING SHEEP REPORT


The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 2,797 Store Hoggs and Feeding Ewes, also 372 In-lambers and Ewes with Lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 19th March, 2013.

Sale ring Store hoggs were another large show with all classes at extreme rates.

Top of £84.50 for Suffolks from Cooms, others £80.50 Woodfoot; Beltex £83.50 Jubilee Park, £82.50 Dinwoodie Green; Texel £81.50 Dinwoodie Green, £80.50 Cooms; Charollais £79.50 Dumblar Rigg; North Country Cheviot £77 Kilfinnan, £76.50 Carruthers; Hill Cheviot £73.50 Lymiecleugh; Greyface £71.50 High Parkfoot, £68.50 Balgray; Zwartbles £69.50 Woodfoot; Swaledale £68.50, £67.50, £66.50 Allenheads; Half Bred £68 Marwhirn; Blackface £67.50 Cooms, £65.50 Balgray, £64.50 Jubilee Park.

Cast ewes to £64 Haswellsykes, cast rams £70 Branxholm Braes and Pike.

Breeding sheep again proved easy to sell with Suffolk cross ewes with singles to £62 Station Road, Suffolks with twins £53 Station Road, Greyface with twins £43 Crosshill. In lamb Greyface ewes to £80 Sheala Hill.
