STORE SHEEP REPORT


The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 6,489 store lambs (including 2,872 Cheviots) at Longtown on Tuesday 8th October 2013.

Sale ringAnother large entry of stores attracted a full ring of both local and distant buyers with trade for all classes excellent.

Top of £70 for Suffolks from Hawthorns and Texels from Clarghyll who sold others at £68.50, £68 Lea Hill, other Suffolks £68 Lea Hill; Beltex £68, £67.50, £66 Sharplaw, £67.50 Keldhead; Dutch Texel £67.50 Baggarah; Charollais £64 Hawthorns; Blackface £64 Lamperts, £58.50 Sewing Shiels, £56.50 Blackburn; Cheviot Mule £62.50 Tarrasfoot, £61.50 Liddlesdale House; Greyface £60 Beeches, £59 Auchengruith, £58.50 Sheepriggs; Lleyn £60 Lustruther; Wensleydale £50 Mosspetral; Herdwick £25 Middle Row; Swaledale £23 Mosspetral.

Cast rams to £100 Greenshields, cast ewes £50 Sinderhopeshields.

Cheviots were another outstanding entry with trade very similar to a top of £68 and £60 for Hill Northies from Routin Lynn, others £59.50 Bradley, £59 Philiphaugh, Sorbiestrees and Twislehope.

Hill Cheviots to £60 Winterhope, £57 Glendinning, £56.50 Murtholm.
