Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 5,561 sheep comprising of 95 Spring lambs, 3,498 hoggs and 1,968 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 8th May 2025.
SPRING LAMBS
In spec lambs sold very well topping at 400ppk. More lambs weighing 38-45kg are wanted on a weekly basis to satisfy customer demand. There is very little market for store lambs at the moment and customers are urged to make sure lambs are full of meat before they come. Please contact our auctioneers for all enquiries.
M/s Johnson, Kimmeter Green sold a very tidy run of well bed lambs to top at 400ppk averaging with the 41-45kg lambs within this run averaging 379ppk.
Topping the sale at £182 was a single Suffolk lamb from Messrs B Green, North View.
Top price per kilo were 4 Texels reaching 400p from R. Johnston, Kimmeter Green Cottage.

PRIME HOGGS
Well fed lightweight and export weight hoggs proved to be in big demand, totally eclipsing trade seen earlier in the week. Heavy hoggs met the same trade as seen in previous weeks. More well finished hoggs will be sought after in the near future and can be sold to vendor advantage at this venue. Please contact our auctioneers for further enquiries.

Prime cattle sales are back here at Longtown, with a fantastic show of cattle forward meeting a ringside full off buyers. Making the opening sale of Northern Counties & Scottish Prime Cattle & Prime Bulls a great success. The sale was topped twice by T Pearson & Son, High Plaskettlands for two tremendous Limousin and Blue Heifers realising 452 pence per kilo both going to W Kirkup Butchers, Longtown. A big thank you to our sellers and purchasers who supported the first Prime cattle sale back at Longtown.
