  The
                Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. had
                forward 2,621 breeding sheep at their second special sale at
                Longtown on Tuesday 20th May, 2008.
 A larger show of quality sheep met the best trade
              of the season. At the pre-sale show of hoggs with lambs, judging
              was in the capable hands of Harry Fisher, The Beeches, Walton,
            Brampton, whose awards were as follows:- Mule hoggs with singles:-1st prize – Messrs Ridsdale, Yew Tree, Thomas Close, sold
              at £61.
 2nd prize – Messrs Hayton, Longrow, Canonbie, sold at £60.
 3rd prize – P.M. Kidd, Briggle Farm, Langwathby, sold at £57.
 Continental hoggs with singles:-
 1st prize – Messrs Neill, Upper Tinwald, Dumfries, sold at £45.
