The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 219 store
cattle and 64 breeding cattle at their fortnightly sale at Longtown
on Tuesday 16th September 2008.
The 219 store cattle sold to a good
strong trade throughout the sale. Top price was £825 for four
Limousin bullocks from J. & J. & D.
Taylor, Englishtown, sold to A. Irving, Toppin Castle.
The 64 breeding
cattle forward saw cows with strong calves sell well, with other
sorts harder to sell.
Top selling price of £1,180
for a Limousin cow with Charolais heifer calf from T.N. & F.
Cowan & Son, The Ash, purchased by P.C. & J.A. Noble, Walmgate.
