The Cumberland and Dumfriesshire Farmers’ Mart P.L.C. had
            forward a catalogue entry of 690 suckled calves at their Annual Show
            and Sale on Saturday 5th October 2013. 
          
       
          
          
          
          
          
          An excellent show of cattle with vendors once again turning their
            cattle out very well. 
          All classes sold to extreme high rates with
            the bullocks averaging £1,159 and heifers levelling at £1,003,
            the whole sale being up £185 on the year.  
          We would like to
            thank the sponsors Capontree Vets, and the judge Mr J. Brand, Fife,
            who awarded the championship to a fantastic Limousin heifer shown
            by W.H. & D.A. Gass, Nunscleugh, which later realised £1,550
            and was purchased by the judge. 
          The reserve champion also went to
            Messrs Gass for a Limousin bullock, selling to £1,450 purchased
            by D. Carr.  
          The cup for the best Charolais was awarded to W.G. & H.M.
            Kyle, Spoutbank for a heifer selling at £1,150 to J.R. Walton,
            Rockliffe Farm.
