Dumfries Store and Breeding Sheep Report

C&D Auctions held their annual show and sale of Scotch Mule Gimmers in Dumfries on Friday 29th August 2025.

1449 forward; Gimmers were generally smaller on the year with all classes being well bid to average £265.84 up £34.16 on the year.

Todays show was sponsored by Starlyne, the judging was in the capable hands of James Marshall, Hoddom & Kinmount Farms who found his Champion pen from W Borthwick & Son, Shangan which sold at £275.

Reserve Champion pen from M Rorison, Clonrae made £275

Reserve Champion pen from M Rorison, Clonrae made £275. Topping the sale at £300 was a pen from Hallscaur Farming, Glenwhargen. Texel Gimmers met a sharp demands selling to £360 from W Borthwick & Son, Shangan.

1000 Store lambs were presented to a full ringside of buyers and met the dearest trade seen selling to £148 for Texels from Glenkiln Farms, Bettyknowes. Next sale of Store Lambs is Friday 5th September.
