The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 98 prime cattle, 22 Over Thirty Month cattle, 4929 prime hoggs and 3692 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 30th April, 2009.

All classes of prime cattle were easier on the week. Top was 179.5p, 178.5p for Limousin bullocks from Corby Castle Estates, 177.5p Faulding Cleugh & Hallburn, 174.5p The Gill & Corby Castle, 173.5p Hallburn & Corby Castle. Heifers sold to 175.5p, 171.5p for Limousin from Dashwellgreen; Charolais 169.5p Sceughdyke.

The OTM were short of requirements and sold to 155.5p for Limousin cows from Southwoodhead, 147.5p Solmain, 136.5p East Foreshield; Friesian 112.5p Southlambhill. Charolais heifers 147.5p, 145.5p Blindhillbush; Limousin 145.5p Moorhills, 139.5p Blindhillbush. Highland bullocks 113.5p Summerhill.

The large show of prime hoggs were forward to the usual ring of buyers. Trade maintained last weeks rates with an overall average of 176p.
