PRIMESTOCK REPORTS


The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 61 prime cattle, 27 over thirty month cattle, 3,743 prime hoggs and 6,299 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 8th March 2012.

A larger, plainer selection of prime cattle was forward, with many heavier cattle resulting in fantastic prices per head. Top of £1,625 for a great Limousin bullock shown by Neil Forster, The Haining House, Walton.

A smaller show of 3,743 prime hoggs were forward and short of buyers requirements, especially good export hoggs. The sale average was 200p per kilo, SQQ 207p. Buyers keener for sheep with all classes easier sold on the week.
