The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 40 prime cattle, 6 young bulls, 23 over thirty month cattle, 6,337 prime lambs and 10,425 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown on Thursday 10th October 2013.

Less prime cattle on offer saw a mixed show sell to similar rates topping at 237.5p for a Charolais heifer shown by J.W. Vevers, High Stenries. Limousin bullocks to 235.5p from W. & W. Faulder, Houghton House.

A tremendous show of 6,337 prime lambs which sold to average 184.7p per kilo (SQQ 186.1p). A far better show of quality sold to a much greater demand with heavy lambs and best quality lambs creating a premium.

Top price of £109 per head for Texels from A.R. Bell & Son, Kirkton and to 263p per kilo for Beltex from A. & B. Fox, Hilltop.
