Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C & D Auction Marts Limited held their fortnightly sale of store & breeding cattle on Tuesday 1st September, 2015 at Longtown Mart, where an entry of 89 cattle was forward.

The sale was dominated by a super run of strong Angus and Limousin cattle from Messrs Robley which were easily handled by a full ringside of local and distant feeders, a pen of Angus and Limousin steers topped the sale at £1,205, other Angus to £1,140 from Beacom Farms for a pen of 4.  Yearling Angus sold to £945 for August born yearlings from Messrs Butler, other native steers sold to £945 for Hereford and Devon from Mr Whitton.  Strong Continental steers sold to £1,200 from Townfoot.  Yearling Continentals sold to £990 from Messrs Huddleston for a dairy Charolais with Limousin to £955 Kimmeter Green.

Heifers were possibly dearer on the previous sale and sold to £970 for British Blue from Townfoot.  Limousin sold to £910 from The Nook with other the same from Blenkett Farm.

A small selection of cows with calves met a good enquiry selling to £1,140 for an aged Roan cow with a bull calf from Thomasdene.
