Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited held their fortnightly sale of store & breeding cattle on Tuesday 10th November 2015 at Longtown Mart.

A good entry of 124 store cattle met a mixed trade, best cattle still dear with others harder to cash.  The sale topped at £1,065 for a British Blue bullock sold by K. Laurie, Snowden Close. Angus bullocks sold to £1,050 shown by B.M. & Z. Harrison, Clarghyll.

At the monthly sale of breeding cattle on Tuesday and entry of 29 head was forward. All classes of stock was offered to a good company of both local and distant buyers and a total clearance was implemented.

The sale was topped at £1,190 for an aged Angus cow with heifer calf at foot from Mr A. Hall. In calf cows sold to £720 for a Galloway from George Gourlay. A run of cows which had ran with the bull from Robert Wilkinson topped at £620. A small entry of Blue Grey and Galloway bulling heifers from Castlefairn topped at £780 for a Galloway and £760 for a pen of Blue Greys.
