Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

A total of 109 cattle was sold at C&D Auction Marts, Longtown on Tuesday 7th November 2017, comprising of 84 store cattle and 25 breeders.

Best quality store cattle were dearer on the fortnight and may more could have been sold. The sale topped at £1,235 for a British Blue bullock from Devonport Farms, Blakelaw, following that at £1,180 was a Charolais bullock shown by CJ & BA Thompson, Edenbanks. The Angus bullock section topped at £1,060 from JDM Thomson, Pilmuir.

The breeding cattle section was mainly full of hill cows but was toped at £1,500 for a British Blue cow with heifer calf sold by EA Kitching & Co., Glencartholm, next was £1,200 for an in calf Limousin heifer sold by EJ Underwood, Haggistone Holm.

Breeding bulls sold to £2,000 for a nearly six year old bull shown by Messrs WN Douglas, Catslackburn.
