store sheep ringThe Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart PLC had forward 3,856 store lambs at their weekly sale at Longtown on Tuesday 11th August 2009.

A good show of lambs (including the Special Sale of Mules) included the Annual consignment of 1,000 Texel lambs from Fairgirth which were well shown and presented, his top was £56 and £55.50.

All classes of lambs were again very dear, selling to a top of £60.50 for Beltex’s from Dunshiel; Suffolk cross £60 Oliver Farm, £56 Fairgirth, £55.80 Wolfhills; Texel £55.80 Binks, £55 Beechcroft; North Country Cheviot £52.50 Moyle View, £48.50 Oliver Farm; Greyface £49.50 High Parkfoot and The Dyke, £48.50 Shield Hill Top, £47.20 Howburn; Hill Cheviot £38 Kelsocleugh. Suffolk cross Mule ewe lambs to £55.50 Haswellsykes.
