The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 2,521 store & breeding sheep at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 22nd February, 2011.

Store hoggs were less numbers and trade was very dear with plenty strong pens selling between £70 and £80.

Top of £82.50 for Texels from South Mains, others £77.50 Blinkbonny, £75.50 Shaw of Dryfe; Suffolk £80.50 Willowford, £74.50 Fell Hill; Beltex £77.50 Dinwoodie Green; Leicester £75.50 Clifton on Bowmont; Half Bred £75.50 Adderston Shiels; North Country Cheviot £70.20 Waterloo, £70 Adderston Shiels; Hill Cheviot £69.80 Newbigging; Charollais £67.50 Glebelands; Greyface £67.50 Whitfield Farm, £62 Waterloo, £60.50 Broomhill; Blackface £61 Borthwick Shiels, £60.50 Shilling Lane. Cast ewes to £70.50 Clifton on Bowmont. Cast rams to £87 and £84 South Mains.

At their Annual Sale of in lambers there was an entry of 1,102 forward. A very good show attracted huge interest with buyers from far and near, trade was excellent and many more good quality sheep could easily have been sold.

Included in the sale was the dispersal of Girnwood Hill Cheviots, their tops were £94 and £90 to average £77.88, other Hill Cheviots to £79 and £72 Allfornaught. Shearlings sold £144 for Texels from Alderley Terrace, who sold correct Texel ewes at £136 and £135; Suffolk cross £134 Hopestead; North Country Cheviot £109, £107, £100 Scales; Hebridean £86 South Mains.

In lamb hoggs to £124, £122 and £120 (x2) for Suffolk Mules from Tone Hall; Texel £90 Clantibuies. Greyface geld hoggs to £70 Lochwood with Suffolk tup hoggs to £132 Clifton on Bowmont.
