The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart had forward 2,168 in lambers, ewes with lambs at foot and store hoggs at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 29th March, 2011.

Store hoggs were extremely dear. Top of £96.50 for Texels from Burblethwaite, others £92.50 and £90.50 Springwell; North Country Cheviot £90.50 Adyar; Beltex £90 Gass; Suffolk £81.50 Gass and Red House; Bleu d’Maine £79.50 Gass; Greyface £78.50 Shaw of Dryffe, £73 Maxton; Cheviot Mule £73.50 Springwell; Hill Cheviot £70.50 Crosscleugh, £70 North House; Blackface £70 Crookston; Woodland £67 Riggshield; Kerry £66.50 Riggshield; Swaledale £60.50 Chapel Farm. Cast rams £108 Balgowan. Cast ewes £123 Gass.

In lamb sheep (772) were a fantastic trade. Top of £142 and £140 for North Country Cheviot gimmers from the dispersal from Mrs Fleming, Moorhouse, Coldingham, Eyemouth, who also sold ewes at £128, £124 and £122 (x3), overall average £123. Other Texel ewes to £134 and £121 Palgowan.

Ewes with lambs, more numbers with trade dearer. Top of £71.50 for shearlings with singles from Farmers Close, who also sold ewes with singles at £71. Ewes with twins to £59.50 Farmers Close and £58 Bateyshield.
