The Cumberland & Dumfriesshire Farmers Mart P.L.C. had forward 5,046 Store Lambs at their Sale at Longtown on Wednesday 19th September, 2012.

Sale ringWith plenty of local and distant buyers present and a good quality show of lambs, trade sharper by £2 per head on the week.

Top of £69 for Texels from Sheepriggs, others to £67.50 Stonehall; Greyface £65 Minsca, £59 Linton House, £58 The Nook, £57 Broadmea; Suffolk £63.50 Grainhead and Hammershields, £63 Linton House; Beltex £63 Greenside Farm; Charollais £62.50 Linton House; North Country Cheviot £59 East Murton; Swaledale £37.50 Parkhouse.

Cast ewes to £63 Linton House.

Also forward were 1,466 Hill Cheviots and 1,077 Blackfaces. Trade was much dearer on the week and short of requirements. Top Hill Cheviots to £60 Dodd, others £59 Windyhaugh, £57.50 Clenries. Blackfaces to £56 Allensgreen.
