Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an entry of 1,017 head of ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at Longtown on Tuesday 7th June 2016.

A very good show of sheep for this time of year attracted a very large company of buyers, including from Wales. Trade was by far the dearest of the season, with all vendors going home delighted.

Top of £80 and £79 for Greyface hoggs with singles form St Johns Kirk, others to £72 Little Blencowe, who also sold twins at £61. Suffolk cross with singles to £74, £72 and £71 Wallend and others to £71 Low Tippalt. Texel hoggs with singles to £72 Rockcliffe Cross, £68 from Wallend and Low Tippalt, twins to £55 Reagill Grange. Beltex with singles to £68 from Glasson who also sold Berrichon at £66.

Shearlings with twins to £61 for Texels from Bayles and £59 from Dinwoodie Green.

Texel ewes with twins to £70 from Temple House and £64 Red House who also sold Suffolks at £64 and Bleu du Maine at £66. Greyface to £65 from Bayles, £54 Temple House and High House. Hill Cheviots to £53 and £52 from Girnwood and £51 Smiddy Hill. Swaledale to £37 Stockasteads and Bayles and Blackface to £33 from Bayles. Ewes with singles to £70 for Suffolks from Bayles, Texels to £61 Bayles and Greyface to £54 High House. Cheviots to £56 from Brewery House Barn, £51 from Girnwood and Smiddy Hill. Swaledale to £43 from Stockasteads and Blackface to £36 Lowes.
