Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward a much larger show of 1,250 ewes and hoggs with lambs at foot at their sale at Longtown on Tuesday 7^th May 2019.

Included in the sale was the annual show and sale of hoggs with lambs, which was professionally judged by Mr Ross Sizmur, Okehampton, Devon. With plenty of customers forward all eager to top up their flock numbers. A fast selling trade was seen for the quality show which was forward topping at £98 a life for the first prize pen of Texel x hoggs from D. Carr & Son, High Wood. With the first place Mule hoggs selling at £95. Dry hoggs sold to £122 for a quality pen of Texels from Messrs Rutter, Townfoot.

Outwith the show, a larger show of ewes and lambs was forward to a much larger ringside of buyers with an animated trade from start to finish all outfits being £4-£8 dearer on the week. Topping at £81 per life for a Suffolk x ewe with strong lamb from Messrs Mellin, Stockholm and Texels selling to £77.
