Longtown Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts held their Lowland breeding sale of 2,000 Mule, Texel, Suffolk and Continental bred shearlings and all classes of breeding ewes on Wednesday 4th September 2019.

A smart show of both Scotch bred and North of England mule shearlings sold to a buoyant trade, topping at £142 for the champion pen of 10 consigned by Messrs T. Edgar, Whitton. Texel gimmers topped the sale realising £220 for a pure bred shearling consigned by Messrs A.J. & L.J. Haston, Dearham.

Prior to the sale judging of the show of shearling was in the capable hands of James Latimer whose awards were as follows:-

Four & five crop Mule ewes sold to extreme rates and many more could have been sold to vendor advantage.
