Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd had forward 5,572 store lambs and feeding ewes at Longtown on Tuesday 17th November 2020.

Another good and quality show of lambs on offer attracted a large company of buyers from all over. All classes met a sensational trade right through, but taking the quality into consideration trade was very similar on the week. Hill lambs met another exceptional trade with strong types selling at a premium.

Top price of the day was £98 for a Texel ewe lambs from Southwood Head and £93 Gillesbie Farm, £90 Balliemore & Upper Burnmouth; Beltex to £96 Uppercleuch, £95 Kilnknowe, £94 & £91 Spittal Ridding; Suffolk to £85.50 Pow Head, £85 Hepple Hill, £84 Branxholm Braes; Charollais to £90 Pilmuir; Cheviot Mules to £88 East Redfordgreen, £86 Pilmuir, £81.50 Routin Lynn; Easycares to £74.50, £74 Barnside Farmhouse.

Hill lambs sold to £82 Solwaybank for hill Cheviots, others to £77.50 Gateslack. North Country Cheviots to £81 RDS Forestry, £81 Drumleonmore & Blakehope. Blackfaces to £80.50 Horseholme, £79.50 Upper Burnmouth & The Hott, £78.50 WesthotBank. Swaledales to £56.50 Whitfield Estate.

Feeding ewes (340) met another good trade with excellent prices. Top £85 for Texels from Saddell Home; Cheviot Mules to £76 Priesthaugh; Greyfaces to £67 Greenside; Easy Cares to £63 Burnside Farmhouse. Hill ewes to £77 for Cheviots from Oliver Road; Blackfaces to £62 Glenoe Estate, £60 Westhotbank. Cast rams to £85 for a Texel from Banks head.
