Dumfries Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auctions held their fortnightly sale of 405 Store Cattle, Suckled Calves and Breeding Cattle in Dumfries on Monday 27th October 2025.

Breeding Cattle; the dispersal of stock hill Cows with Calves from Archbank Farming, Moffat brought a huge complement of customers to the ringside creating plenty of interest selling to £4250 for a 6 year old Simmental Cross Cow with Bull Calf other to £3900, £3400, £3200 & £3050. Simmental Cross Cows with Heifer Calf at foot sold to £3500 (x2), £3400 & £3000. Beef Shorthorn Cross Cows with Heifer Calf at foot sold to £3450 & £3000. Beef Shorthorn Cross Cows with Bull Calf at foot sold to £3100.

The Spring Calving Aberdeen Angus Cross Heifers from Ritchie, Fardingjames, Auldgirth met a flurry of bidding selling to £3700, £3600, £3550, £3500 (x2), £3400/ Breeding Bulls sold easily, Aberdeen Angus to £4200 from Harkness, Netherhall and Charolais to £300 from Reid, Glendearg.

Annual Show of Suckled Calves was sponsored by Solway Agriculture was ably judged by Mr G Rome, Nivenhill who awarded the Champion Rossette to Fitzsimmons, Tregallon with a sweet Limousin Heifer realising £2200. Reserve Champion went to Graham, Hillend with a British Blue Bullock reaching £1900. Champion Pen went to Adkin, Dollard with Simmental Cross Bullocks making £1720.
