Longtown Store & Breeding Cattle Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their February sale of store cattle on Tuesday 11th February 2025.

A very mixed show of cattle were forward to a packed ringside of purchasers all keen for supplies. Yearling cattle sold to very high rates being short of purchaser requirements.

Topping the sale was a forward Simmental cross steer consigned by M/s Latimer, Causey View, Hexham which realised £2,380 with another not far behind at £2,350, this run of cattle averaged £2,285.

Heifers topped at £2,100 for a forward Beef Shorthorn consigned by M/s Thomson, Pilmuir, Hawick.

Yearling cattle were in big demand topping at £2,080 for an 11 month old very well bred Charolais steer from M/s Telford, High Parkfoot, Roadhead,  with this run of 8-11m old steers and heifers averaging a staggering £1,748.

M/s Reed, The Knarr, Alston had a very smart run 10 month old cattle forward topping at £1,900, averaging a staggering £1,776.  

Bulls proved to be a flyer topping at £2,070 for a pen of 3 Limousin cross at 10 month, with this run of 9-11 month old bulls levelling at £2,012.

All classes of cattle are keenly sought after for the forthcoming sales and are sold to vendor advantage at Longtown. The next sale will be the fortnightly sale of store cattle, suckler calves and breeding cattle on 25th February and 11thMarch, with the Annual Kirkcambeck Spring Sale & March Special Sale of store and breeding cattle on Saturday 22nd March.
