C&D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries on Wednesday 25th February 2026.

A smaller show of hoggs was presented forward and met with pleasing returns. Todays SQQ was 356.5p/kg and 331.4p/kg.

Hoggs topped at £170 twice for a strong pair from Maxwell Farming, Druidhall. A beautiful run of hoggs from Hamlet, Garloff topped at £168 for 26 Hoggs. Third Farms topped the pence per kilo at 382p/kg for 5 sweet Texel cross Hoggs. A notable mention to Wilson, Newbank who sold a pen of Cheviot Hoggs to 373p/kg.

A mixed offering of Cast Ewes and Rams forward with two thirds of the sale being light hill bred ewes. Topping today at £198 from Sloan, Backburn for a thumping Suffolk ewe. Light ewes topped at £142 from Young, Nether Gribton. Rams topped at £175 from Anderson of Ardoch and Wilson of Marwhirn.
