Dumfries Prime Sheep Report – 11 March 2026

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries. Trade today showed the upward trend, with hoggs up to 436p/kg and plenty runs of Blackface and Cheviots well over £4/kg. More required weekly to meet buyers demands. SQQ 398.7p/kg with the overall average 375p/kg.

All classes of ewes met a stronger trade. Plenty hill ewes about meeting high returns. Topping the heavy ewes was Radley Pedigree Livestock at £255 for a Texel ewe and light ewes topped at £186 from Young, Nether Gribton for a pen of Cheviot ewes.

Breeding ewes were sold with keen buyers from near and far. Today’s dispersal from Mr Robert Thompson, Lanarkland topped at £250 for a Texel cross ewe scanned twins. In lamb Texel cross Mules were making £240-245 on plenty of occasions.
