Longtown Kirkcambeck Sale Report 21 March 2026

C&D Auction Marts Limited had forward an outstanding show of mainly native bred cattle on Saturday 21st March 2026.

An outstanding show of native bred cattle were forward by local and distant producers. These very well-presented cattle were presented to one of the largest contingentS of purchasers seen at the annual Kirkcambeck sale to date. This resulted in a biblical trade for all youngstock whilst stronger cattle would look better value inline with national trend. 

The sale peaked at £2060 for Beef Shorthorn x Galloway bullocks shown by R Vevers & Co., Burnfoot Hill, Eaglesfield with heifers selling to £2000 for Beef Shorthorns from Archbank Farming Co., Moffat.

Belted Galloways sold to £1860 from H & N Sloan, Burnfoot, Lauder.

Pure bred Galloways topped at £1830 for a penful of forward steers consigned by M/s D & J Sedgewick, Errington Red House, Hexham. This wonderful consignment of Galloway steers averaged a very pleasing £1752.

Continental cattle followed suit with yearling sorts being the trade of the day whilst forward sorts met a touch of resistance.
