Longtown Store & Breeding Sheep Report 24 March 2026

C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 2,121 Store Hoggs and 41 Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 24th March 2026

A small offering of ewes and lambs forward selling to unbelievable rates of return, with a three-crop Mule ewe with a Blue Texel ewe lamb at foot realising £700 per life. Closely followed by a two crop Cheviot Mule ewe with twin Badger Face lambs at foot making £680 per life. Many more outfits of ewes and lambs needed each week going forward to fulfil buyers ever growing demand.

Wholesale average of £198 per life.

A slightly smaller and mixed show of store hoggs forward as we look to be getting towards of the end of the season, faced by a ring side of keen purchasers looking for numbers. Countless pens above £150 for short keep hoggs and the longer keep hoggs consistently above £100. Sale topped at £196 for a pen of Texel tup hoggs from Messrs Beck, South Port O Spittal.
