C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 1,711 Store Hoggs and 183 Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 31st March 2026

A slightly larger offering of ewes and lambs forward selling to unbelievable rates of return, with a Suffolk cross ewe with a Blue Texel ewe lamb at foot realising £720 per life. Closely followed by a Texel cross ewe with a Badger Face ewe lamb at foot making £700 per life. Many more outfits of ewes and lambs needed each week going forward to fulfil buyers ever growing demand.

Wholesale average of £158 per life.

A slightly smaller show of store hoggs forward jumping to another gear with some hoggs being £20 up on the week. A lot of short keep hoggs way above £170. Sale topped at £190 for a pen of Suffolk cross hoggs from Messrs Millar, High Cattadale, Argyllshire. Many more hoggs needed each week to fulfil buyers ever growing demand.

Feeding ewes of all classes jump a gear again this week with more purchasers on the lookout for feeding sheep, large numbers can be handled with ease. Sale topped at £195 for a pen of Texel ewes from David McKendrick, High Dalrioch.
