Dumfries Prime Sheep Report – 15 April 2026

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries. First of the Spring Lambs today topped at £160 for a smart Zwartble lamb from Rae, Wallacetown.

Hoggs were a delight to sell with a plainer offering forward. Top price at 424p/kg for Texel cross Hoggs. Going forward heavy hoggs desperately required for buyer demands and all other classes. Overall average 365.68p/kg (SQQ 398.34p/kg)

Ewes sold with ease more required weekly. Top price was £250 from Goldie, Skipmyre for a Texel cross Ewe. Light ewes were topped by a Cheviot reaching £232 from Dobson, Hillhead.

Hoggs (32.1-39kg) averaged 411p/kg and topped at 422p/kg from Slaven, Foregirth
