C & D Auction Marts held their weekly sale of 754 Store Hoggs and 762 Breeding Sheep at Longtown on Tuesday 21st April 2026

A larger show of ewes and lambs were forward with a ringside full of buyers in attendance.

Trade was strong throughout with ewes with stronger lambs proving particularly easy to sell.

Topping the sale was two Texel cross ewes with three strong texel lambs at foot realising £180 per life from CH & H Robson, Dale House. Many more outfits of all classes needed each week to fulfil the ever-growing demand.

A smaller seasonal show of 754 store hoggs were forward, proving to still be in very big demand with all classes highly contended for. Stronger hoggs were consistently achieving between £160 to £175, with buyers looking for more numbers of store sheep on a weekly basis.

Top price goes to Robson, Town Shields for Blue Faced Leicester’s realising £195.

Feeding ewes showed a significant lift on the week with purchasers still looking for numbers of grazing sheep.
