Dumfries Prime Sheep & Ewe and Lamb Report – 20 May 2026

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their first Ewe and Lamb Sale as well as their weekly sale of Prime Sheep in Dumfries. A good quality show was presented to a ringside of active Buyers and met a grand trade through out. Topping the sale at £130 per life were Texel Ewes with Texel Lambs from Thomson, Pilmuir.

52 Spring Lambs met a strong demand. Many more could have been sold to vendors advantage. Suffolk lambs sold at £218 from Sloan, Backburn and to 470p/kg for Texel Lambs from Burgess, The Bush. Overall 434.5p/kg (SQQ 446.2p/kg).

274 Prime Hoggs forward; well fleshed hoggs were good to sell with Bleu Du Maine hoggs from Murphy, Townpark realising £208. Overall 331.6p/kg (SQQ 334.1p/kg).

262 Cast Ewes & Rams maintained recent rates for a mixed show. Texel Ewes topped at £250 from Wilson, Tinwald Shaws. Cast Rams to £270 for Texel from Corsewall Castle Farm.
