C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their annual Border Cheviot Ewe Sale at Longtown on Monday 28th September 2026, where there was a catalogued entry of 7,210.

A simply outstanding show of North Country Cheviots were present for the Border Cheviot Ewe sale which was held at Longtown. North County Cheviot shearlings where first to go under the hammer selling to a very busy ringside of potential purchasers ensuring very high rates of return were achieved. Topping this section was a super single consigned by noted breeders M/s Allen, Humbleheugh, which went on to realise £950. With this run of expertly turned out gimmers going onto average £525.11. topping the averages was 6 special gimmers consigned by M/s Walton, High Fodderlie levelling at a very impressive £700.

NCC ewes where forward in big form and very keenly sought after. M/s Allen, Humbleheugh took the honours again topping this section as well for a pen of 6yo correct below ewes full of character and breeding realising £460 levelling out at £417.84.

NCC Ewe lambs again were forward in quality with trade unrivalled and unseen. Achieving the hattrick across all sections was M/s Allen, Humbleheugh who topped this section as well realising £440. The top average in this section went to some very well bred and very well presented park type ewe lambs levelling out at £370 was regular consignors M/s Pate, Nettling Flat

All vendors are highly commended for their presentation and breeding of such high end NCC breeding females. Very well done to all involved.

A tremendous entry of South Country Cheviots were forward at the UKs principal sale for the breed. With both new and existing customers competing hard for all classes with a fast selling trade being witnessed throughout. Leading the days proceedings was the top pen of 5yo draft ewes from Messrs Paton, Castle Crawford who realised £500 for his top 6, which head to Argyll to establish a new flock. With the 2nd pen of 15 ewes heading to the same home at £400. It was the turn of Messrs Elliot, Hindhope to lead the gimmers, with this classy pen heading back to Argyll at £400.
