Dumfries OTM & Prime Cattle Report – 05 October 2026

C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of OTM and Prime Cattle at Dumfries. A total of 160 OTM Cows went through Dumfries this week with once again plenty of new faces consigning cattle from every DG postcode.

Top price cow came from Campbell, Glenstockadale Several at £2465.60 with a Limousin. Simmentals topped at £2308.50 from Baird, Potterland, Aberdeen Angus Cows peaked at £2379 from Smyth, Henderland and Blue cross Cows topped at £2287.50 from Carruthers, Woodhall. A first of a kind in Dumfries with a Maine-Anjou Cow achieving £2174.40 from Houldey, Kirtleton House.

Herries Farms stormed the p/kg at 362p/kg for a Limousin Cow. Smyth, Henderland was up to 305p/kg for Aberdeen Angus Cows. Houldey, Kirtleton House up to 302p/kg for a Maine-Anjou Cow. Herries Farms achieved 330p/kg for Salers and first time consigner Wallace, Mains of Collin achieved 248p/kg for a Luing Cow.

Black and Whites in strong demand topping at £2281.60 from Murray, Conheath and Norwegian Reds grossing at £1825 from Dunlop, Searigg. Brown Swiss topped at £1794 from Harvey, Nether Keir. Holstein Friesian topped at 260p/kg from Craig, Dryburgh and Kyle Farm Partnership topped at 252p/kg in the Friesian section.

Clean cattle met a buoyant trade achieving 425p/kg from Jardine, Yett and again 398p/kg from Yett for well fleshed smart Limousin Heifers. Murray, Conheath was up to £2379.75 for a dairy bred Aberdeen Angus Bullock.

Cows have been pulled from the length and breadth of South West Scotland. We are actively seeking more cows to keep up with demand and movement for this fast growing fortnightly sale.
