C&D Auction Marts Ltd held their fortnightly sale of 620 Store Cattle at Dumfries including the Annual Spring Sale of 191 Organic Status Cattle. Action speaks louder than words and their was plenty of action on Monday for all shapes and sizes.

191 Organic Cattle comprised of mainly 10-12 month old cattle and met extreme competition. Bullocks were topped at £2420 with Charolais bullocks from Hamilton, Woolfords and to 593.3p/kg. Heifers were topped at £2440 for British Blue from Stewart, Marshill and Limousin heifers to 590.2p/kg from Gibb, Toftcombs.

Organic Bullocks average 522.3p/kg to 593.3p/kg and to £2420 from Hamilton, Woolfords.

Organic Heifers average 517.4p/kg to 590.2p/kg from Gibb, Toftcombs and to £2440 from Stewart, Marshill.

429 Non Organic Cattle; big turnout of local and distant Buyers attending with trade easily exceeding sellers expectations. British Blue cross heifers 18-20 month old from Baillie, Low Glasnick realised £2700 who’s run of 40 heifers averaged £2306.67. Davies, Low Peninver sold British Blue heifers at 569.5p/kg. Bullocks to £2260 for Beef Shorthorn from Temple, Wyliehole. With British Blue Bullocks from Davies, Low Peninver realising 610.2p/kg
