C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 10,067 sheep comprising of 201 spring lambs, 5,102 hoggs and 4,406 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 21st May 2026.

NEW SEASON SPRING LAMBS

An increased entry of 201 spring lambs met a fast-selling trade with more firms actively looking for lambs.

Top price per head of £228 for Suffolk lambs from A Hambleton, Merkland, Thornhill.

Top per kilo of 532p for Texel lambs shown by C Saunders, Mansfield Cottage, Rigg.

PRIME HOGGS

Another good entry of 5,102 prime hoggs forward took a lift in trade again as buyers looked for Quarbani hoggs with well fleshed hoggs in huge demand.

Top price of £275 for Beltex hoggs from Easter Balgillo and a top per kilo of 513p per kilo for Beltex from Z. Rennie, Muiryfold.
