Longtown Primestock Sale Report
C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry
of 9,096 sheep comprising of 5,722 hoggs and 3,374 cast ewes & rams at
their weekly sale at Longtown Mart on Thursday 5th February 2026.
PRIME HOGGS
Another substantial show of 5,722 hoggs sold to a very competitive
ring of purchasers ensuring all classes saw another slight increase in trade in
last week’s very high rates of return. Included in the market averages where
again a substantial number of hills bred hoggs which proved a joy to sell.
Numbers handled with ease and are actively sought after on a weekly basis.
Heavy hoggs seeing the same increased rates of return seen last
week. Export weights and smalls proved in serious demand once again being in
serious demand and way short of customer requirements once. Good commercial
export weights again seen regularly trading 345-360ppk with the best exports
400ppk plus. Many more handy weighted sheep wanted by customer request.

Another pleasing show of 3,374 Cat ewes and rams sold
to recent high rates of return. Again, plain ewes very deer with continental
ewes keenly sought after and short of purchaser demand.
