Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 4691 sheep
comprising of 2062 lambs, 2517 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale at
Longtown Mart on Thursday 10th July 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

An
increased entry of 2,062 prime lambs were presented for sale to a very strong
ring of 14 purchasers ensuring all classes were again competitively bid for and
sold to vendor advantage. A slight increase on last weeks high rates of returns
ensured all vendors left Longtown absolutely delighted with their days trading.
An unrivalled, sustainable and consistent trade proving that C&D Marts put
farmers first and have done for generations.

Again
more can be sold and are actively sought after on  a weekly basis to satisfy
demand.    

Top price per head at £212 for a Suffolk lamb from
Whitton, Corner Cottage.

Top price per kilo went to a pen of 5 Beltex lambs
reaching 425.5p/kg from Beckfoot

Overall average of 367.41p/kg (SQQ 368.07p/kg)

CAST EWES AND RAMS

Another strong show of 2,517 cast ewes and rams were
sold to a very fast trade. Topping the ewes was the heaviest pure bred texel
ewe to have ever  graced the premises topping at a near centre record of £490
from Beckfoot.call classes of ewes both heavy and light will be required as
Trade for next week again looks solid and numbers wanted to meet a very
competitive ring of 15 active purchasers ringside at Longtown.
