Longtown Primestock Sale Report

C&D Auction Marts had forward an entry of 6,022 sheep
comprising of 2,926 lambs and 3,096 cast ewes & rams at their weekly sale
at Longtown Mart on Thursday 14th August 2025.

PRIME LAMBS

A
very pleasing entry of just short of 3,000 lambs forward. Well finished prime
lambs of all classes still in good demand whilst a lot of lambs forward today
carrying very little finish brought the averages down. More well finished, fed
lambs are required on a weekly basis to satisfy customer demand.

Topping
the sale was a pen of Beltex lambs realising 425ppk, consigned from Burnside

Topping
per head was a hefty Texel lamb consigned by High Field Farming, realising
£215.

Please
make sure your lambs are well covered and properly finished before sending them
on a prime day. There is an unprecedented demand for store lambs at the moment
and these type of lambs are far easier sold on a Tuesday at Longtown.

For
all further enquiries please do not hesitate to contact your auctioneers who
will be only too pleased to help.
